LEO Numerical Atlas

The numerical atlas provided for the LEO region comprises contourmaps of:

  • the maximum eccentricity computed in 120 years (“i_e_MEM_k_j.png”)
  • the corresponding lifetime (“i_e_LIFE_k_j.png”) as a function of the initial inclination and initial eccentricity.

The maps correspond to two values of area-to-mass ratio (A/m = 0.012 m 2 /kg and A/m = 1 m 2 /kg), different initial values of semi-major axis, longitude of the ascending node (k in the label of the figure) and argument of pericenter (j in the label of the figure).
The initial epoch is June 21, 2020 at 06:43:12 (JD 2459021.7800).
The dynamical model under which the maps were computed includes atmospheric drag, 5 × 5 geopotential, solar radiation pressure, lunisolar perturbations.

Maximum eccentricity computed in 120 years as a function of initial inclination and eccentricity:

  • A/m = 0.012 m² /kg;
  • pericenter altitude h p ∈ [ 500 : 1600 ] km;
  • initial eccentricity: e ∈ [ 0.0001 : 0.009 ] ;
  • initial longitude of the ascending node: Ω = 0º;
  • initial argument of pericenter: ω = 90°.
